Important Added Info: Note that posters from this Universal Mummy movie have always been exceptionally scarce (and it appears to be the only one of those movies that wasn't re-released through Realart, so there is not even that option). We auctioned a single one-sheet from this movie in 1997, and we were re-consigned that poster in 2004 that sold for $15,601 (that example was unrestored in excellent condition), and we were then consigned another example in 2017 that had heavy restoration, and that sold for $6,750, and now we have been consigned a third example.

UPDATED 07/22/2022: NOTE THAT WE HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY REVISED THE CONDITION, BASED ON ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM THE CONSIGNOR. Please see the updated Condition Description below (the Condition Grade is unchanged).

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. NOTE THAT WE HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY REVISED THE CONDITION, BASED ON ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM THE CONSIGNOR. This replaces what used to be on the auction. The poster had minor fold and border wear. It had pinholes around the edges. It was in pretty nice condition other than two SIGNIFICANT defects. One was a 1 1/2" x 3" area of paper loss in the top right just above the girl's image and to the right of the mummy's shoulder, in the background. The other was a 1/2" x 4" area of paper loss in the lower right starting in the left of the Universal globe logo and extending into the girl's cheek and nose. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer did a pretty nice job of recreating the two missing areas. You can still see where those areas were, and they are noticeable, but not very distracting. One might choose to have another restorer perform additional restoration to those areas, so as to make them nearly invisible, or certainly many people would be happy to display this extremely rare poster just as it is. It will be the choice of the winning bidder of this auction. Obviously one would prefer to find an example of this poster that did not have this paper loss and restoration, but this is an incredibly rare poster. Please bear the above in mind and look closely at our Supersize image before bidding on this poster.
