Some of her movies include: The Rose (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Ruthless People, Hocus Pocus, and For The Boys (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film). Some of her hit songs include: The Rose, Wind Beneath My Wings, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and From a Distance. As of 2021, she is still alive at the age of 75! Artist: Richard Amsel Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by Bette Midler (she signed the front of the poster, and on the back invitation area, she hand wrote "For Bob, Miss M says"; see our images)! Note that we previously auctioned two examples of posters that had the same image as this, but both those measured 23" x 29". This one measures 18" x 25". That is because this was an invitation to the "West Coast Coming-Out Party for 'The Devine Miss M' Bette Midler", which was held May 1, 1973. The poster was designed to be folded and the lower left corner of the back of the poster has the invitation on it, including an "RSVP to Miss Diane at Atlantic Records", with her phone number. You would then open the invitation and see the poster on the reverse side. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good. There is much rippling scattered in the top half of the poster, with some staining in the top blank border and surface paper loss in each blank corner, where tape was removed. Because of the invitation on the back that has writing by Miss Midler, one would likely choose to have a restorer clean and flatten the poster without backing it, and after that restoration, it will display wonderfully, but bear its condition in mind before bidding.
