An Original Vintage Autographed Party Tile (measures 6" x 6" [15 x 15 cm]) (Learn More) William A. Wellman was a director and producer from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of his films include: The Public Enemy, A Star is Born, and The Ox-Bow Incident. He passed away in 1975 at the age of 79. Important Added Info: Note that this "party tile" has been personally autographed (signed) by approximately FORTY people who attended Mr. Wellman's 56th birthday party (but Mr. Wellman did not sign it himself, of course). Among the people who signed it are Fred MacMurray, John Payne, Ricardo Montalban, Robert Cummings, Tay Garnett, Mari Alden, Robert Young, George Chandler, Bob Crosby, Noel Neill, Kenneth MacKenna, Julie Bishop, and there are around 28 signatures we cannot identify. This lot was originally auctioned at a TCM/Bonham's auction in 2019, and it was consigned by William Wellman Jr. The lot does not have a certificate of authenticity, but as it was originally from William Wellman Jr., we are certain the signatures are authentic. If anyone knows who else signed this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
