An Original Vintage 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm] Fan Photo, with facsimile signature (Learn More) Lon Chaney, Sr. was perhaps the greatest star of the 1920s. Surprisingly, he had minor roles for many years before becoming a major star in the late 1910s, when he became Universal's leading actor. His greatest roles were in silent horror classics. Some of his movies include: He Who Gets Slapped, Laugh Clown Laugh, The Unknown, Tell It to the Marines, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, London After Midnight, The Phantom of the Opera, and the Penalty. He only made one sound movie, The Unholy Three, which was a remake of his own silent version, and then sadly, he passed away in 1930 at the age of 47 from throat cancer (apparently just before he could play the starring role in "Dracula"!) Important Added Info: Note that fan photos like this were sent to fans who wrote to their favorite stars from the 1910s to the 1940s (some are printed on a quality paper stock). Often they would have "autographs" on them, but they are always either printed within the photo or were signed by a secretary, or stamped on the photo, but they are NEVER actually signed by the star (unless someone who acquired one later met the star and got them to sign it). These are often mistakenly sold as being signed by the star, but they are not. Please bear this in mind before bidding on this photo (which is a vintage photo from the year we say, and is nice to display, but which is NOT personally signed by the star). Condition: very good.
