An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-release Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Television Still (Learn More) Collegiate (released in England as "The Charm School"), the 1936 Ralph Murphy romantic college university school campus musical screwball comedy ("The funniest fastest musical comedy you've seen in a duck's age!"; a ridiculous screwball comedy about a broke playboy inheriting a girls' college, which he turns into a charm school, and he finances the renovation with checks from a crazy amnesiac, and after much adventure and romance, the school is about to go broke, when it is revealed that the amnesiac, played by Joe Penner, is actually the REAL Joe Penner, and he bails out the school!) starring Joe Penner, Jack Oakie, Ned Sparks, Frances Langford, Betty Grable, Lynne Overman, Mack Gordon, and Harry Revel. Note that the source story for this movie was previously filmed with Wallace Reid in 1921 as "The Charm School", and in 1928 as "Someone to Love", but this version was obviously tailored for Joe Penner. Also note that Betty Grable, who had appeared in a bunch of minor bit roles, but was just recently gaining credited parts, was fifth billed, playing a charm school student, but her beauty won her a prominent place on the window card! Important Added Info: Note that these this still is undated and measures 8" x 10", and appears to look identical to stills from the first release of this movie. But it is on a "newer" paper stock that is blank on the back ("newer" than the 1930s or 1940s, but consistent with the paper stock used in the 1960s, and the printing is quite nice). We believe that it was created in the 1960s when this movie was shown on TV, and that stills like this were distributed to TV stations. We have been consigned some large collections of stills that came directly from TV stations, and they included a large number of stills that are very similar to these, which makes us think it is even more likely that these were created in the 1960s for TV use. But we can't say for certain, so please do not bid on this still unless you can accept that uncertainty as to when it was created. Condition: very good. There are pinholes in the corners.
