Ludwig Bemelmans was an Austrian-born writer and illustrator from the 1920s to the 1960s. He wrote novels and biographies, but he is certainly best remembered as the author of the Madeline children's stories. The first Madeline book was adapted into a 1952 animated cartoon short directed by Robert Cannon. Some of his other books include: A Tale of Two Gimps, Marina, and To the One I Love the Best. He passed away in 1962 at the age of 64.

Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Ludwig Bemelmans on the artwork page that faces the title page (see our image). Our consignor has no certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to be authentic. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads.

Condition: good. The inside flap of the front cover of the dust jacket is completely separated, but it is present. There is much wear around the edges of the jacket. The book itself is in pretty good condition (see our images).
