Date Sold 11/1/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Clarence E. Mulford's North of the Rio Grande, the 1937 Nate Watt railroad train cowboy western ("Hopalong Cassidy lets 'em have it!"; based on characters created by Clarence E. Mulford) starring William Boyd (as Hopalong Cassidy), George 'Gabby' Hayes, Stephen Morris, Russell Hayden, John Beach, Bernadene Hayes, and Lee J. Cobb NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This was printed by Associated Displays Corporation which was a company based in New York City. Before it was discovered by noted poster dealer/historian Walter Reuben, collectors did not know the name of this company (and thought it to be located in the Midwest), and it is often referred to as the "other company" (and we will continue to refer to it that way, since collectors know it that way). From 1936 to roughly 1941, this company printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts, half-sheets, three-sheets, 40x60s and stills) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The items almost always feature a tiny legal disclaimer and cast credits only. The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They did this by combining elements from different film scenes onto one poster or card. Sometimes, "other company" posters have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters. Condition: fair. The poster has almost fully separated along the vertical foldline and someone backed that fold with MUCH white tape. It has pinholes, creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges and some of those are also backed by white and other tape. There are also a few small pieces of white tape on front of the corners (they were not put there for any restoration purpose). Despite the defects, fortunately the image is mostly "all there" and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
