Wellman was a director and producer from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of his films include: The Public Enemy, A Star is Born, and The Ox-Bow Incident. He passed away in 1975 at the age of 79. Important Added Info: Note that master promoter David O. Selznick was promoting his "A Star is Born" in 1937, directed by William Wellman, and he took the opportunity to publicize Wellman's early career as a fighter pilot in France in World War I! This still shows the youthful Wellman by his "fighting Spad, Le Chat Noir", explaining that soon after this photo was taken, "Wellman was shot down". Condition: fair to good.
