An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German Movie Poster (measures 37 3/4" x 54 1/4" [96 x 138 cm]) (Learn More) Hilde Petersen Postlagernd (released in the U.S. in 1937 as "Hilde Petersen: General Delivery"), the 1936 Victor Janson German romantic melodrama (about a pretty young woman who loses her job, and conceals it from her mother by pretending to go to work each day; she applies for a job and rents a post office box so that her mother won't know about it, and when she goes to the post office, a married man sees her and pursues her, but everything works out when she becomes involved with the man's lawyer and the man reconciles with his wife) starring Suse Graf (in the title role as Hilde Petersen), Rolf Wanka, Alice Treff, Ralph Arthur Roberts, Jakob Tiedtke, and Paul Heidmann If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that "pre-War" movie posters from Germany are virtually nonexistent (it seems likely that most were destroyed during the huge paper shortages that occurred during World War II). As is typical of pre-World War II German posters, the poster has a seal in the printing in the middle right, which gives the date of "8 JAN 1936". We have never seen or heard of another example of this poster (not at all surprising, because there are very few German movie posters from before World War II in existence, and most of those few are in museums). Also note that the poster has an artist's signature on it, but we cannot make it out in the slightest. If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here. The poster had tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and a very few creases, scuffs, and tiny tears on parts of some foldlines.
