An Original Vintage Radio Magazine (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/2" [23 x 32 cm]; 32 pages) (Learn More) Radio Stars of Today (and Radio Log), the 1928 magazine filled with 30 full-page sepia images of then top radio stars, and below that, biographies of them. Most of the 1930s stars did not go on to later fame and are not well remembered today. But there are some happy exceptions! Freeman Gosden and Charles J. Correll were top stars then, and their Amos 'n' Andy radio show was super popular. Rudy Vallee was a giant radio star who went on to much success in movies as well. Will Rogers had already had a substantial movie career, and it continued until his untimely death in 1935. Helen Kane went into movies with much success. Baby Rose Marie went into movies, and decades later, resurfaced as "Sally Rogers" on the Dick Van Dyke TV show. But best of all is the page devoted to Ginger Rogers! She was just 17, and had just arrived on Broadway after a tour of the Midwest, and she was from Fort Worth, Texas, and she was billed as "The Charleston Champion of Texas", because of her great ability at that dance. At the time of the publication of this magazine, she had not yet entered the movies, but of course, that would soon change! This is a fascinating book, and in the center of the book are two pages that give the "principal broadcasting stations in the U.S. and Canada", and amazingly, in 1928, you could fit all those principal stations onto just two pages. What a rare and wonderful book this is! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this magazine has a price on the inside of $1. We don't know if it was sold to the general public or to people within the radio business. We have never auctioned this wonderful magazine before! Condition: very good. The magazine was made with slightly oversized covers that extend past the interior pages, and there are tears in the top and right edge, and small paper loss in the top right blank corner of the cover. The interior pages are in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
