George Foottit was an English clown from the 1870s to the 1920s. He was born in Manchester, England in 1864 and his parents were George Foottit and Sarah Crockett, who were both circus performers. He began his career at the age of twelve, and later moved to France where he found fame on the Paris circus scene. He may be most famous for being part of the clown duo "Foottit and Chocolat" for twenty years. After retiring, he ran a bar and restaurant near the Rond Point des Champs-Elysees. He passed away in 1921 at the age of 57.
