An Original Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 11" x 16 3/4" [28 x 43 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) School for Secrets (released in the U.S. in 1952 as "Secret Flight"), the 1946 Peter Ustinov English World War II (WWII) military scientist action thriller ("MORE STARTLING than the Flying Saucer!"; "The Secret Weapon that saved a Nation... Science Commandos!"; "From Top Secret Royal Air Force and Admiralty Files!"; about the group of British scientists racing to develop the first radar system) starring Ralph Richardson, Raymond Huntley, Sir Richard Attenborough (very young in this, his 5th movie!), Marjorie Rhodes, John Laurie, Ernest Jay, and David Tomlinson. Note that director Peter Ustinov had served in World War II from 1942 to 1946, and right after he was released, he directed this movie at age 25 (his first, he was sort of an English Orson Welles in that respect!). The movie was not released in the U.S. at that time, but this movie was released in the U.S. in 1952 (obviously, it was released in the U.S. because of the science fiction [sci-fi] craze), and they tried to sell this movie in that fashion, advertising it as "more startling than the Flying Saucer"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a great trade ad taken out of an issue of Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazine (we have 33 of them in this set of auctions). Studios would run these elaborate ads in issues of this magazine, and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This trade ad was removed from a 1946 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall. The back of this trade ad has text or ads for other movies from that time, and we have not pictured the back because the primary interest to bidders is the great ad we have pictured. Note also that this is a "country of origin" item for this English movie! Condition: very good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). It was the centerfold of the magazine so the pages are on a single sheet, and there are staple holes at the spine (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
