An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Cleopatra, the classic 1917 J. Gordon Edwards historical Ancient Egypt royalty silent romantic epic melodrama ("The Siren of the Nile"; "Direct from record engagement at the Lyric Theatre N.Y.") starring Theda Bara (in the title role "as Cleopatra, The Siren of the Nile"), Fritz Leiber (as Caesar), Thurston Hall (as Antony), Alan Roscoe, Herschel Mayall, and Dorothy Drake. Note that this movie, like the other most major movies of this time, initially played for six months at a single theater in New York City. We don't know what posters were exhibited during that six month time, but the one-sheet poster (with the most classic image of Theda Bara) was created immediately after that, when the movie was first released to other theaters! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that we can't say for certain, because this is a "lost" film, but it would sure seem that this scene shows Cleopatra committing suicide at the climax of the movie. If anyone knows more about this scene, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good. There are pinholes in the corners and a pinhole in the center of the bottom (in the background between the "M" and "F" of "WILLIAM FOX"). There is a diagonal crease in the top left blank corner. There are some faint smudges and tiny stains around the edges. The card was printed slightly off center, so that there is a larger top border and a tiny bottom blank border, but the card measures 11" x 14" and is not trimmed (and most collectors consider this a very minor printing defect, because only blank white paper is affected).
