An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) All at Sea, the 1929 Alfred J. Goulding (billed as "Alf Goulding") silent Navy Naval military sailor comedy ("The laugh on the ocean wave"; about a vaudeville hypnotist/magician who performs at a club frequented by sailors and Marines, and a sailor hires him to hypnotize his friend, with comedic results) starring Karl Dane (as "Stupid McDuff"), George K. Arthur, Josephine Dunn, Herbert Prior, and Eddie Baker. Note that Karl Dane and George K. Arthur appeared in two of the same movies in the mid-1920s, and then in 1927, MGM paired the huge Dane with the diminutive Arthur as a comedy team in 1927's "Rookies", and they were a huge hit, and over the next four years, they appeared in a total of 17 comedies as a Laurel & Hardy-like slapstick comedy team. But Dane had a very thick accent, and he could not make the transition to sound movies, and he had a few bit parts given to him by friends, but by 1934, he was washed up, and he bought a hot dog cart which he displayed outside of the MGM gates! Apparently, he reasonably found this extremely depressing, and he soon committed suicide. The following year, Arthur retired from movies and became a Broadway producer among other careers, and he lived until 1985, when he was 86 years old! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. smudges throughout the card (most noticeable in the light colored areas) This window card is in "lesser" condition (it is clearly in less than "very good" condition, and may be all the way down to "fair" condition, as we are selling a collection of early window cards that were found inside of a wall, and those all have water stains and other defects, which should be easily seen on our large images)! This window card has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images. We know that some collectors could accept this window card's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this window card if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this window card because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this window card offered again!
