First National Pictures was an American motion picture production and distribution company. It was founded in 1917 by Thomas L. Tally and J.D. Williams as a merger of 26 first-run cinemas in response to Paramount's market domination. First National partially merged with Warner Brothers in 1928, and then completely merged in 1936. First National has the distinction of making the first million-dollar contracts in the history of film, with Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin! Note that the items in this lot are from 1924 to 1928.
