An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]; 32 pages). Also included is a herald that has 4 pages. (Learn More) Prince Valiant, the 1954 Henry Hathaway medieval Britain war adventure thriller ("From the land of the Vikings... Into the hearts of millions..."; "You see it without glasses in CinemaScope"; "Based on King Features Syndicate's 'Prince Valiant' by Harold Foster") starring James Mason (as Sir Brack/The Black Knight), Janet Leigh, Robert Wagner (in the title role as Prince Valiant), Debra Paget, Sterling Hayden, Victor McLaglen, Donald Crisp, Brian Aherne, Barry Jones, Mary Philips, Howard Wendel, and Tom Conway. Note that Robert Wagner was basically forced to wear his hair the way the comic strip character had done, and that certainly didn't help this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: The cover of this pressbook has a studio-issued 6" x 8 1/2" snipe glued to the center of the cover. It is warning theaters to not use the ads in this pressbook unless they have the "genuine 4-track high fidelity magnetic stereophonic system"! Obviously, they were very afraid of lawsuits if the wrong ads were used! Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. There is a studio-issued snipe glued to the lower middle of the front cover (see above). Depending on how you look at it, this is either a detraction, or a really cool addition (but the snipe is only glued in the top half, and any professional or talented amateur could remove it). Otherwise, it is in pretty nice condition and was never folded. Learn More about condition grades
