An Original Vintage Unfolded Fireworks Display Window Card (WC; measures 12 1/2" x 20 1/2" [32 x 52 cm]) (Learn More)

The Battle of Chateau-Thierry, the circa 1920s outdoor World War I (WWI) pyrotechnics production ("The turning point of the war"; "Massive and realistic scenic effects"). The actual battle was fought in France on May 31st of 1918 and was one of the first actions of the American Expeditionary Forces under General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing. Note that this fireworks display (trying to recreate what it was like to have been in this famous battle, which had occurred recently in 1918 in World War I) was created by the Thearle-Duffield Fireworks Display Company, and we have seen newspapers ads promoting this event starting in 1919 and continuing to at least the late 1930s.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this fireworks display poster! The poster measures 12 1/2" x 20 1/2", with a "full bleed" on all four sides, and we think it was surely printed this way and this size. It is unclear exactly when it is from, because, as noted above, these shows ran all the way from 1919 until the late 1930s, but we think this is from one of the earlier of the shows, likely from the early to mid 1920s. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good to very good. The poster has some pinholes, scuffs, and small tears around the edges, with a 1" tear in the left of the bottom border, and surface paper loss in the right of the bottom border. It has a 2" tear in the center of the top border, with tiny paper loss at the top of the tear (see our image).
