An Original Vintage Autographed Deluxe 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Still (Learn More) Dick Powell was an actor from the 1930s to the 1960s. Some of his movies include: Just Around the Corner, Gold Diggers of 1933, Murder, My Sweet, Footlight Parade, and The Bad and the Beautiful. He was a light romantic musical star in the 1930s (and he released several albums during this period), and then he completely "reinvented" himself in the 1940s, playing tough guys in movies such as "Murder, My Sweet"! AND June Allyson (born Eleanor Geisman) was a very likeable actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was cast over and over as the "good wife", and she tried to break out of that mold playing an incredibly unsympathetic wife in "The Shrike", but the movie failed, and she returned to her good wife roles! Some of her movies include: The Glenn Miller Story, The Three Musketeers, and Executive Suite. She was the daughter of an alcoholic and she was married for a long time to actor Dick Powell, who was an alcoholic, and sadly, after his death, she became an alcoholic, which caused a custody battle for her children with her own mother. Later in life, she became well remembered for her TV commercials for Depends! She passed away in 2006. Important Added Info: Note that while this still has an inscription that reads "June and Richard", we feel certain that June Allyson personally autographed for both her and her husband. So please do not bid on this thinking it was signed by both stars, because we feel certain it was only signed by Miss Allyson. This is one of eight signed deluxe 11x14 stills (plus one deluxe 8x10) that we are auctioning in nine separate auctions. Our consignor purchased them many years ago. All are personalized with inscriptions "To Ray", and two of them say "Ray Sebastian". Ray Sebastian was a makeup artist in Hollywood from 1936 to 1970, and he did makeup for the actors pictured in these nine stills, and they gave them to him, and we feel certain all the autographs and inscriptions are authentic, but our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
