An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) I Remember Mama, the 1948 George Stevens immigration Norwegian immigrant family melodrama ("It's the Reader's Digest story that became a great book... More wonderful now on the screen!"; "Based Upon the Play by John Van Druten") starring Irene Dunne (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Mama), Barbara Bel Geddes (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Oscar Homolka (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Philip Dorn, Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"), Edgar Bergen, Rudy Vallee, Barbara O'Neil, Ellen Corby (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), and Peggy McIntyre NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had paper loss at the middle crossfold and small paper loss at the top and bottom crossfold. There were a few creases and tears along the foldlines. There were tears, creases, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, extending into the edges of the image background. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, the poster was in "good" condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, and displays well, although you can see some signs of the restoration at the crossfolds, even from a distance. Learn More about condition grades
