Date Sold 9/6/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Invader (released in the U.S. as "An Old Spanish Custom"), the 1936 Adrian Brunel English romantic Spain adventure comedy ("A Melbert Special"; "The world's greatest fun-maker in his funniest feature comedy!"; about an inept rich man who sails to Spain with his beautiful mistress, and she gets him entangled in all sorts of dangerous situations) starring Buster Keaton ("in his funniest feature comedy"), Lupita Tovar, Hilda Moreno, ("and a great cast") Lyn Harding, and Esme Percy. Note that this movie was produced by Sam Spiegel, and he hired cinematographer Eugen Schufftan, who had worked with Pabst and other expressionistic European directors, and he DID add to the quality of this movie! Also note that Buster Keaton remade this movie as a short, "Pest from the West", three years later when he was hired by Columbia. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. There is a water stain in the artwork of Keaton at upper right. The poster was folded in half an extra time resulting in a vertical foldline at left and right. The poster is somewhat fragile and there are several areas of foldline separation scattered throughout (more so at the crossfolds). The poster is otherwise in generally nice condition and its colors are still pretty vibrant and after linenbacking it will look fantastic with little paint restoration needed!
