An Original Vintage English Campaign Book (measures 11" x 17 1/4" [28 x 44 cm]; 16 pages). Also included is a supplement that has 4 pages. (Learn More)

Fox 1935-36, the 1935 English campaign book ("The showman's guide to big pictures") featuring art and information about upcoming Fox films. It was prepared at the exact time when Fox merged with 20th Century Pictures to become 20th Century-Fox, and it has a 4-page supplement for 20th Century Pictures, with an announcement on the front that states that Fox Film is "acquiring 20th Century Pictures"! The Fox campaign book is only 16 pages, but it measures 11" x 17 1/4", and it has full-page ads for some of their upcoming movies, and a 2-page spread for Dante's Inferno. It is very clear just how important Shirley Temple was to Fox at this time. She is prominently pictured for an ad for The Little Colonel on the cover. She is the top star pictured in their images of stars, she gets a full page for Curly Top, a full page for Our Little Girl, and she is listed as the first of "seven good reasons for playing Fox" pictures! It is clear she was way the biggest asset Fox had at this time. All campaign books are rare, but this one seems particularly difficult to find, perhaps because Fox prepared few of them as they were preparing to merge with 20th Century Pictures!

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this campaign book!

Condition: very good. There is surface paper loss and staining in part of the right edge of the front cover, and some stains on the back of the top left corner, but otherwise, the campaign book is in pretty nice condition! See our images to get a sense of this exact condition.
