An Original Vintage 7" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] News Photo (Learn More) Stan Musial (nicknamed "Stan the Man") was an professional baseball player in Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1941 to 1963. Musial was a record 24-time All-Star selection (tied with Willie Mays), and is widely considered to be one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. He also compiled 475 home runs during his career, was named the National League's Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times, and won three World Series championship titles. Musial was a first-ballot inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969, and was the longest tenured living Hall of Famer until he passed away in 2013 at the age of 92. Important Added Info: Note that this really cool news photo shows Stan Musial sitting by a "three million dollar electronic computer" which was fed all the records of past great hitters, and the computer predicted he would hit .303 in 1961 (in fact, he hit .288, but that shows you the state of computers in 1960!). Note that the three million dollar computer was made by IBM (it was an IBM 7080), and that it filled an entire room and used reel-to-reel tapes (and it is likely that a modern day phone has more computing power than that computer did!). Also note that this news photo measures 7" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm]. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
