An Original Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 17 1/4" x 22 1/2" [44 x 57 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) Two Against the World, the 1936 William C. McGann murderer-ousted-on-the-radio crime thriller starring Humphrey Bogart, Beverly Roberts, Linda Perry, Carlyle Moore Jr., Henry O'Neill, Helen MacKellar, and Hobart Cavanaugh. Note that Humphrey Bogart had made a small number of movies between 1931 and 1934, before giving up on Hollywood, and returning to the New York stage. He returned to Hollywood in 1935, after having great success in "The Petrified Forest" on Broadway. He made this movie right before he appeared in the Hollywood version of "The Petrified Forest", and that led to enough success that he stayed in Hollywood, but he did not achieve major stardom until 1942, when he made "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a great trade ad taken out of an issue of Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazine (we have 23 of them in this set of auctions, all from Humphrey Bogart movies). Studios would run these elaborate ads in issues of this magazine, and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This trade ad was removed from a 1936 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall. The back of this trade ad has text or ads for other movies from that time, and we have not pictured the back because the primary interest to bidders is the great ad we have pictured. Note finally that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). It was the centerfold of the magazine so the pages are on a single sheet, and there are staple holes at the spine and the staple holes have some slight discoloration (see our image).
