An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

They Were Expendable, the 1945 John Ford (billed as "John Ford Captain U.S.N.R.") & Robert Montgomery World War II (WWII) military patrol torpedo PT boat Naval Navy melodrama ("MGM presents one of the greatest pictures of all times"; "The book that thrilled millions"; "Based on the book by William L. White"; "Screen Play by Frank Wead, Comdr. U.S.N. [Ret.]") starring Robert Montgomery, John Wayne, Donna Reed, Jack Holt, Ward Bond, and Donald Curtis. Note that 12 years after this movie was made, a biography of Frank 'Spig' Wead was made called "The Wings of Eagles", and John Wayne played him in that movie!

Condition: good to very good. tack holes and many smudges around the edges of the poster; paper loss at the top crossfolds and separation on the vertical foldline between them (covered with one long piece of conservation tape from the back); creases along the foldlines; smudges in the white background areas; 1 1/2" of separation at the top of the vertical foldline. The poster is in better condition than the above makes is sound! Its defects are the sort that respond well to restoration. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster would look great, and it would have little paint restoration anywhere on it!
