He had a major triumph playing FDR in Sunrise at Campobello, both on Broadway and in the movie version. He often had the non-glamorous role of the "guy who lost the girl"! Some of his movies include: His Girl Friday, The Awful Truth (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), and Rosemary's Baby. He made a great "comeback" with Don Ameche in the movie Trading Places. He passed away in 1991 at the age of 87.
