A Folded Special Poster (measures 16" x 22 1/4" [41 x 57 cm]) (Learn More) Eric Stanton was an underground cartoonist and fetish art pioneer from the 1940s to the 1990s. Starting in the late 1940s, he was commissioned by Irving Klaw to create bondage fantasy chapter serials, which earned him underground fame. Stanton later created a mail-order business in the 1970s and sold his work directly to his fans, as well as fan-inspired staple-bound books called "Stantoons". For a time, Stanton shared a working studio with Marvel Comics legend Steve Ditko, and it is rumored that he made some contributions to the creation of Spider-Man. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 72. Artist: Eric Stanton Important Added Info: Note that this poster was included in Stanton's 1976 comic titled, Sweeter Gwen & the Return of Gwendoline. Some of these posters appear to have been signed with an ink pen by Stanton (above the "Stanton" in the artwork), but that autograph is actually printed and not hand-signed. We are unsure why some posters have this and others do not. Condition: good to very good. The poster has slight discoloration on the back but it has little or no effect on the front. There is some fine surface paper loss along portions of some foldlines but otherwise it is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
