Her rival... Hurling him to the edge of space... Freezing her love on the edge of time!"; "The Red Phone...Most demanding mistress a man ever obeyed...roughest rival a woman ever fought...It's ring can send him to the edge of space...freeze her love on the edge of time!") starring Rock Hudson, Rod Taylor, Mary Peach, Barry Sullivan, Henry Silva, Robert Lansing, Kevin McCarthy, Richard Anderson, Leora Dana, and Leif Erickson. Note that a major portion of the plot of this movie revolved around the "Red Phone", a hotline number in the White House where the President could call important military personnel in the case of an emergency. Is there such a phone in real life? Has it ever been used? NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these stills, which were given to Nevart Apikian (see below), includes one (a smiling portrait of Rock Hudson) that has been personally autographed by Rock Hudson! Surely there is no chance the studio would send her or give her a signed still that was not actually signed by Rock Hudson, so this signed still has wonderful provenance. Also included are 20 supplements on regular paper, plus a folder labeled "Strategic Air Command", which is filled with press releases from Universal Pictures, most of which have a "Press News From Universal" logo at the top. There is also a spiral-bound book about the movie, which was given to those who were invited to a special preview of this movie on June 19, 1963. Inside of the book is a panoramic photo from the movie, which was tri-folded to fit in the book, and unfortunately, it has come in contact with moisture, which has caused it to stick to itself in a number of places, which is why we did not photograph it. Any talented professional could separate it, but there might be some surface paper loss in a few small areas, and we leave that to a professional. Finally, there is a screening program for the movie that was no doubt given to those who attended this special press preview. Note that this item is from the personal collection of Nevart Apikian, who wrote an entertainment column for the Syracuse Post Standard for nearly 50 years. It was acquired from her estate after her passing. Over the past few years, we have auctioned some of the items from her collection, but NOW, we have been consigned 57 excellent items that we are auctioning all at once, in 57 separate auctions! This collection consists of promotional materialthis columnist was sent from studios about movies that were about to open, in order to help her write a more complete review of the movies. In some cases, she was invited to special premieres and publicity events! She was often sent presskits or sets of stills, but often the studio included additional items, some of which were never sent to theaters, and were likely only sent to other columnists. This collection includes sets of stills, presskits, and other items, and all of the sets of stills and presskits come with supplements, and in some cases they have areas underlined or noted on the fronts and some have long handwritten information within by Ms. Apikian, from when she either watched the premiere or conducted interviews with people connected to the movie, in preparation writing her review. For each item, we have noted exactly what is contained in the auction, and we have noted when there are handwritten notes. While we have auctioned sets of stills or presskits from all of these movies before, many of them contain additional items that we have NEVER auctioned before (and may never auction again, given that they were likely only sent to a select group of reviewers).
