An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked German Movie Poster (measures 37 1/2" x 56" [95 x 142 cm]) (Learn More) Kampf um Recht Und Ehr (literally translates to "Fight for Justice and Honor"), the 1931 German poster featuring Gornik artwork of a man failing to jump a motorcycle over an open drawbridge. Note that our consignor believe this to be promoting an unidentified U.S. movie (and a book on German film posters also suggests that this may be for a 1930 U.S. movie, but has no other info). If anyone knows more about this poster or what movie it was promoting, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Gornik Important Added Info: Note that this is a very rare "country of origin" poster from Germany from before World War II, which we have never auctioned before. There are very few German movie posters from before World War II in existence (because of the massive paper shortages in Germany during World War II), and most of those few are in museums. Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had creases, tears, and tiny paper loss across the middle fold, with a much lesser amount of wear on the other folds. It had tiny paper loss in the bottom of the right vertical fold. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. After the poster was backed, it was slightly roughly handled, and part of the left blank border was creased, and also part of the middle horizontal fold. Learn More about condition grades
