6w1057 LADY FROM CHUNGKING LC 1942 close up of Mae Clarke protecting Anna May Wong, ultra rare!

An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Lady from Chungking, the 1942 William Nigh China World War II (WWII) adventure melodrama starring (set in China right after the Japanese invaded, and a pretty young woman works with resistance forces to sabotage the Japanese, and there is a pretty Russian singer whose loyalties are unknown) Anna May Wong, Harold Huber, Mae Clarke, Rick Vallin, Ludwig Donath, and James B. Leong. Note that Anna May Wong was pretty much the first Chinese-American movie star, and no doubt she was very happy to make this movie, where she was expressly Chinese and not Japanese, and she showed her anti-Japanese sentiment!

Important Added Info: Note that ANY first release movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a first release one-sheet (11 years ago) from this movie (and NO other first release movie paper) until we received this lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. The back of the card has darkened, which slightly affects the front (more so in the extreme outer edges). There is a piece of masking tape on the back of the right of the bottom border, but it was not put there for any restoration purpose. There are pinholes, smudges, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss around the edges, with a few faint scuffs in the image area. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this card.
