eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8y0603 DRACULA Egyptian poster 2010s close up creepy vampire head art, better than The Bat! Date Sold 6/8/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 2010s) Folded Egyptian Poster (measures 28 1/4" x 42 3/4" [72 x 109 cm]) (Learn More) Dracula, the 1928 Ira Hards Broadway stage play production ("The World Famous Vampire Thriller"; of the classic Bram Stoker novel) starring Edmund Blake, and later Raymond Huntley and Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Count Dracula), Edward Van Sloan (as Abraham Van Helsing), Bernard Jukes (as Renfield), Terence Neill (as Jonathan Harker), and Dorothy Peterson (as Lucy Seward). Note that this play opened in London in 1923 with Edmund Blake in the lead role. When Blake left, Raymond Huntley took over the part of Dracula. Huntley played the role on Broadway in 1927, and then was offered to continue in the role in 1928 when the play moved to Boston, but he turned it down (likely because he did not want to live in Boston, and because he was unhappy with the $150 a week salary), and Bela Lugosi got the part instead! Later in 1928, a traveling production of the show toured the U.S. with Huntley reprising his role, and it played for two years throughout the U.S., until 1930. Of course, the classic Universal movie, with Bela Lugosi as Dracula, was made in 1931! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we think it is extremely likely that this poster was created within the last 10 years (possibly in the last couple of years) for an Egyptian movie theater showing classic movies (perhaps this was created for a single showing, but we really don't know). We have been told that there were Egyptian film festivals in the 1990s that used posters like these, and that might well be true, but we believe this poster (and the other recent Egyptian re-releases we are currently auctioning) are much more recent than that (so maybe there continue to be film festivals to the present day). It was consigned to us from Egypt, but we know nothing more about its history except for what is written above, so please do not bid unless you can accept these uncertainties. Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has a few light creases scattered in various areas, but they are not very noticeable or distracting, and otherwise it is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
