An Autographed Agreement (measures 8 1/2" x 13"; 2 pages) (Learn More) Stan Laurel (born Arthur Stanley Jefferson) was an actor from the 1910s to the 1950s. He, along with his partner Oliver Hardy, is best remembered as part of the great comedy team "Laurel and Hardy". He had a solo career in the early 1920s, but in 1926, he joined with Hardy (who had been a major star in the mid 1910s), and they made many legendary movies, including Sons of the Desert, Way Out West, Big Business, Helpmates, The Music Box, Tit for Tat, Towed in a Hole, Them Thar Hills, and Liberty. He passed away in 1965 at the age of 74. In 2019, a film biography, "Stan & Ollie", starring John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan, was released, and while it did what most film biographies did, which is to play fast and loose with the truth, it was generally very well received and one can only hope it will cause new generations to seek out this classic duo's wonderful movies (both features and shorts)! Important Added Info: Note that this agreement has been personally autographed (signed) by Stan Laurel! This document relates to a settlement that Stan Laurel made where he received $40,000 ($35,000 in a promissory note), and he signed it twice, both for himself and for the corporation that he was the president of. This settled a dispute between Laurel and Hal Roach, where Laurel was suing Roach. With this agreement, he agreed to drop the suit, and he also separately signed an agreement to work for Roach for one year (and we are separately auctioning that agreement, which is signed by both Stan Laurel AND Hal Roach!). This 2-page agreement was originally stapled inside of a blue cover sheet (see our image of the back of the blue cover sheet). Note that our consignor has been a memorabilia dealer for the past 30 years, and he tells us that he is certain this autograph is authentic. In some cases he obtained the autographs in person, and in other cases (like with contracts and agreements), it is obvious the signatures are authentic, but he vouches for the authenticity of every item that he has consigned to us, and we also feel certain that the autographs are authentic. Condition: very good. The staples that held the agreement to the blue cover sheet are gone. The blue cover sheet has some small tears around the edges. There are some creases on the pages of the agreement (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
