Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a French painter and illustrator known for elegant and provocative images of Paris. He was considered one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period. Some of his works include: The Marble Polisher, At the Moulin Rouge, Portrait of Gabrielle, and Le Coucher. Note that Toulouse-Lautrec suffered from congenital defects (possibly caused by inbreeding), and after childhood injuries, his legs stopped growing. He was only 4'8" tall as an adult. Toulouse-Lautrec passed away in 1901 at the age of 36 from a combination of alcoholism and syphilis.
Artist: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
Important Added Info: Note that our consignor tells us that this poster (and the two others currently at auction) were printed as art objects sometime prior to the 1940s as the person he bought them from obtained them as used sometime in the 1940s!

UPDATED 07/10/2012: Note that we have been contacted by collectors concerning the date of this poster. While we are confident that this poster is not a modern reproduction (that has been artificially aged), we cannot positively confirm that the poster is from the 1930s. That information comes from a reliable consignor and we can find no evidence that contradicts that date, and we can find no evidence that there were reproductions of any sort in this size made from the 1950s on (but of course there may be ones that we did not find). However, please only bid if you can accept the uncertainty regarding the date of this poster.

Condition: good. There are scuff marks and some water stains scattered throughout the poster and some of the scuff marks have been touched up with paint from the front. There are several tack holes scattered around the edges of the poster.
