An Original Vintage Unfolded Stage Play Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 18 3/4" [36 x 48 cm]) (Learn More)

Geo. M. Cohan's Whispering Friends, the 1928 Sam Forrest Broadway stage play production ("A cyclonic laugh-provoking farce"; "You'll love it"; "New York's sensational comedy success!"; based on the work by George M. Cohan; about a poor man who marries a wealthy woman, and he suspects that their friends are gossiping that he only married her for her money, so he insists that they live on his very limited income!) starring Walter Edwin, Edith Gresham, William Harrigan, Elsie Lawson, Chester Morris, and Anne Showmaker. Note that when this play first opened, the New York Times gave it a negative review, but newspapers from smaller cities completely disagreed with that assessment!

Artist: Hap Hadley
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card or any other kind of advertising for this stage play, and it has great art by Hap Hadley, who did a number of the best movie posters at this same time, including the three-sheet for Buster Keaton's The General! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18 3/4" [36 x 48 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: very good.
