Date Sold 5/5/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1964 (from the first release of this movie in Japan) Vintage Theatrical Tri-Folded Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More) L'Annee Derniere a Marienbad (released in the U.S. in 1962 as "Last Year at Marienbad"), the classic 1961 Alain Resnais (billed as "Alain Resnais [Hiroshima Mon Amour]") French/Italian romantic love triangle mystery gambling crime thriller (about a stranger trying to convince a married woman to run away with him; did they or did they not have an affair previously at the same resort?; the man is convincing in stating that they did, but the woman seems equally convincing in insisting they did not; I found it very compelling and thought provoking, and I wondered if the truth didn't lie somewhere in the middle, but that seemed impossible given the differences in what they were saying!) starring Delphine Seyrig, Giorgio Albertazzi, Sacha Pitoeff, Francoise Bertin, and Luce Garcia-Ville If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is the very rare first Japanese release poster from 1964. There are re-release posters from the 1980s and 1990s, but they are black & white. We have never auctioned this poster before! Also note that this poster was tri-folded only (which means there is no vertical machine fold) but because it would be more expensive to send flat, it will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was lightly tri-folded at one time. There are creases and scuffs scattered above and below the top fold and a 1 1/2" vertical tear near the center of the bottom fold. Someone performed slight restoration to those areas without backing the poster. The poster displays well, but you can see signs of the above restoration from close up, so bear this in mind before bidding on this rare and wonderful poster. Learn More about condition grades
