An Original Vintage Piece of Original Comic Book Art (frame measures 19" x 24" and art measures approximately 13 1/2" x 19") (Learn More) Goofy is an animated animation cartoon character created in 1932 by Art Babbitt & Frank Webb for Walt Disney Productions. In his first appearances he was known as Dippy Dog before having his name changed to Goofy. He is often featured in animated animation cartoons alongside Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck such as Mickey's Service Station, Clock Cleaners, and Lonesome Ghosts. He was probably the most popular Disney character in the 1940s, with his slapstick series of "How To..." sports cartoons, but he faded in popularity in the 1960s and 1970s. He had a resurgence in popularity in the 1990s with the release of "A Goofy Movie" in 1995 and the TV series "Goof Troop" in 1992. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the snipe on the back of the frame tells us that it is Page #26 of a 44 page comic titled "Special Goofy Quixote", and it is rendered in graphite and blue pencil. This artwork features Goofy as Don Quixote and Mickey Mouse as Sancho Panza. This artwork may have been created by Adolfo Urtiaga but we cannot be certain. Adolfo was an Argentinean comic artist from the 1950s to the present. In 1975, he joined the Jaime Diaz Studio, a Buenos Aires-based art studio which produced most of the artwork for the "Studio Program" of the Walt Disney Company. Urtiaga's main body of Disney work was for the "Goofy Classics" series, in which Goofy plays the role of a famous historical or literary character. If anyone knows more about this artwork, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The art was framed nicely and the art and the frame display well. It will need to be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 21" x 26", so bear this expense in mind before bidding. If the new owner wishes, we can remove the art from the frame and send solely the art, but that will be the choice of the new owner. Learn More about condition grades
