And his wacky war on the Captain... And his girlie paradise in the Pacific... And his slingshot that nearly scuttled the whole fleet."; "Following in the hilarious fun-steps of 'Mister Roberts'!"; "The man with the most original mind in the U.S. Navy ...and the greatest collection of pin-ups!"; "Based on a play by Thomas Heggen and Joshua Logan"; this movie was a sequel to the classic "Mister Roberts", but in that movie, the lead actor passes away at the end of the movie, which created a problem for the sequel; the Ensign Pulver character was funny in small doses in the original, but was painful to watch in this sequel, especially since Jack Lemmon wisely did not return, and neither did James Cagney, William Powell, or the other principals from the first movie!) starring Robert Walker (in the title role as Ensign Pulver), Burl Ives, Walter Matthau, Tommy Sands, Millie Perkins, Kay Medford, Larry Hagman, Gerald O'Loughlin, Al Freeman Jr., James Farentino, James Coco, Diana Sands, Peter Marshall, and Jack Nicholson (very young in this bit part!)
