An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Poster (measures 34 3/4" x 53 1/2" [88 x 136 cm]) (Learn More) Gehetzte Madchen (literally translates to "Busy Girls"), the 1930 Erich Schonfelder German silent crime melodrama starring Lien Deyers, Kowal Samborski, Toni Tetzlaff, Raimondo Van Riel (billed as "R.V. Riel"), Elza Temary (billed as "E. Temary"), Olga Limburg (billed as "O. Limburg"), E. Meinhard, and Robert Garrison (billed as "R. Garrison"). The movie was being filmed in 1929 when it was still unclear if sound movies would "win out" over silent movies, but by the time it was released in 1930, that had been mostly settled, and it appears this movie was never released in the U.S. (likely because it was a silent). If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Hugo Schuttrich Important Added Info: Note that this is a very rare "country of origin" poster from Germany from before World War II, which we have never auctioned before! There are very few German movie posters from before World War II in existence (because of the massive paper shortages in Germany during World War II), and most of those few are in museums. Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 34 3/4" x 53 1/2" [88 x 136 cm]. Note that this poster has been mounted onto a "Chartex"-like material (we are not 100% certain it is Chartex, but if not, it is something very similar. Chartex is a backing paper that is a linen-like paper, similar to the material you line drawers with. It serves its function well in that the poster is preserved, which is why many restorers other than movie poster restorers use it, but it is very difficult to impossible to remove from the back of the poster. SO DO NOT BID ON THIS POSTER UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THAT IT LIKELY CAN'T BE REMOVED FROM ITS BACKING, AND WILL NEED TO BE KEPT AS IT IS (although it is not harming the poster, and it enables it to be displayed). Condition: fair to good. The horizontal folds in the poster have "returned", both in the poster and the Chartex backing. The poster was mounted onto "Chartex" (see above) with no restoration. It has excess Chartex at the top and bottom. It almost surely can't be removed from the backing, but it can certainly be displayed as it is. DO NOT BID ON THIS POSTER UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THAT IT LIKELY CAN'T BE REMOVED FROM ITS BACKING, AND WILL NEED TO BE KEPT AS IT IS (although it is not harming the poster, and it enables it to be displayed).
