An Undated (possibly 1940s) Re-Release (but also possibly original; see below) Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #2 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Shadow, the 1940 James W. Horne crime mystery serial ("Wrapped in mystery! Loaded with thrills!"; "A Columbia chapter play of 15 thrilling episodes"; "Based on the stories published by 'The Shadow' magazine") starring Victor Jory (in the title role as Lamont Cranston, aka The Shadow), Veda Ann Borg, Roger Moore, Robert Fiske, and John Paul Jones

Important Added Info: Note that original 1940 movie paper from this classic serial is beyond rare! There is a duotone one-sheet that some people claim is from 1940 (but it is undated, and other people think it is from 1947), and other than that single one-sheet, there is next-to-nothing known to exist from the 1940 release. We have never auctioned any original 1940 U.S. movie paper items, so WE CAN'T SAY FOR CERTAIN IF THIS LOBBY CARD IS FROM THAT FIRST 1940 RELEASE OR A RE-RELEASE (probably 1947). Please do not bid on this card unless you can accept the uncertainty as to whether it is original or re-release (and the fact that it has no chapter title clearly makes it more likely that it is from a re-release).

UPDATED 04/27/2012: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section of the auction with new information regarding the date of this item.

Condition: good. The card has pinholes and smudges around the edges, and some tiny stains and many faint smudges scattered in the image. It appears that someone pressed and flattened the card, but performed no other restoration.
