Woody Woodpecker is the animated cartoon bird created by Walter Lantz & Ben 'Bugs' Hardaway in 1940 for Walter Lantz Animation Studio. At first, the voice of Woody was supplied by Mel Blanc, but after several other people filled that position, Walter Lantz' wife, Grace Stafford, got the job! A balloon featuring the character has long been a staple of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and he has a star on on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also appeared in many comic books.

Important Added Info: The animation cel has been placed into a double mat (but the mat can be opened so you can see the cel and the copied background behind it). On the back of the mat is a printed paper from Universal Studios stating that this is an "original hand painted souvenir cel" and that it was created exclusively for Universal Studios in 1987.
