An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Stalag Seventeen, the classic 1953 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) World War II (WWII) military prisoner-of-war (POW) comedy ("The star-spangled laugh-loaded salute to our P.W. heroes!"; "'Stalag 17'...The address - of a prisoner of war camp!"; "Based on the play by Donald Bevan and Edmund Trzcinski") starring William Holden (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Sefton), Don Taylor (as Lt. Dunbar), Otto Preminger (as the German commandant Col. Von Scherbach), Robert Strauss (in his nominated for Best Supporting Actor Academy Award role as Stanislas Kasava), Harvey Lembeck, Richard Erdman, Peter Graves (as Price), Neville Brand, and Sig Ruman (as the German Sgt. Schulz). Can anyone tell me how or why actor Don Taylor was given second billing in this movie? He did not have a major part at all! If anyone knows, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Gloria Swanson had her great comeback triumph in 1950 in Sunset Boulevard opposite William Holden. When he made Stalag 17 three years later, she visited him on the set, and they took this wonderful portrait of her surrounded by all the cast members who played prisoners of war, including, of course, William Holden, Peter Graves, and all the rest. Also note that this still measures 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm]. Condition: very good. There are three small "bumps" in the top blank border. Otherwise, the still is in pretty nice condition!
