The Wonder Man, the 1920 John G. Adolfi silent romantic boxing sports secret agent crime adventure melodrama ("Robertson-Cole Super Special") starring Georges Carpentier, Faire Binney, Florence Billings, Downing Clarke and Cecil Owen. Note that Frenchman Carpentier was the real-life European heavyweight boxing champion and world light heavyweight boxing champion from 1920 to 1922, and he was brought to American and signed to make this movie in 1920. In it, he plays a French secret service agent, operating in the U.S. to find important stolen papers. He falls in love with a girl, and has a rival for her affection, and a club they both belong to has a boxing tournament, and of course, Carpentier and his rival meet in the final match. Of course, his girl is on the outs with him during the first three rounds of the fight, and he takes a beating, but in the fourth round she tells him she really does love him, and he wipes the floor with his opponent! After that, he finds the stolen contracts, but nobody really cared about that. Carpentier was nicknamed "The Orchid Man" and made a total of eight movie appearances, likely playing boxers in most of them. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
