Note that when the movie was first released, the poster designers gave the top four actors prominent billing (including their character names), but not Marilyn Monroe (although they wisely put a sexy image of her alongside the images of the top four stars)! This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had a tear in the top right corner that extended through the tagline and the edge of the yellow background area, and it detached that portion of the poster. There was a 2" tear in the upper left border. Otherwise, it had some creases on the folds and minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking.
