An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Warner Oland was a Swedish actor from the 1910s to the 1930s. He was best remembered for his starring roles in all the early Fox Charlie Chan movies. 20th Century Fox continued making Chan movies after Oland's, with his substitute Sidney Toler, who, like Oland, was not Asian, but performed in yellowface (though Oland did have Mongolian ancestors). Some of Mr. Oland's other movies include: The Jazz Singer, Shanghai Express, Werewolf in London, and Tell It to the Marines. Oland passed away 1938 at the age of 58 from bronchial pneumonia. He also unfortunately had symptoms of dementia, which may have been related to his alcoholism. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Warner Oland! Also note that this still measures 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that our consignor purchased a collection of autographed stills that were collected by Leonard Sorgi, who was a unit manager for ABC for shows like The Soupy Sales Show, The Jerry Mahony Show, and many others. He was also Unit Manager for the Academy Awards for a number of years, and during his long and varied career, he met many celebrities and obtained autographs from them in person (often personalized to him). Our consignor (and we) feel certain that the autograph on this still is authentic! Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
