An Original Vintage Unfolded Belgian World War II Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Sauvez Vos Vies (literally translates to "Save Your Lives"), the 1942 Belgian World War II (WWII) Home Front poster (with a tagline that translates to "Build your shelter") encouraging citizens to contact the City of Brussels Public Works Technical Department for help in building a bomb shelter, and featuring art of a destroyed building. Note that Occupied Belgium was targeted by the Allied bombers from both the British RAF and American USAAF. The policy led to high civilian casualties as bombs missed their intended targets and fell on civilian areas. In a raid on the Erla Motor Works in the Belgian town of Mortsel (near Antwerp) in 1943, just two bombs fell on the intended target. The remaining 24 tons of bombs fell on civilian areas of the town, killing 936 and injuring 1600 more in just eight minutes. The Allied policy was condemned by many leading figures within Belgium, including Cardinal van Roey. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster has never been folded and it is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
