eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2z002 BEST MAN WINS insert 1935 Rice, Holt, Lowe, Bela Lugosi billed but not shown, ultra rare! Date Sold 1/3/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Best Man Wins, the 1935 Erle C. Kenton deep sea diving romantic love triangle crime thriller ("These cockeyed Casanovas uncork a corking comedy!"; "Hail!.. The Screen's New Laff Twins"; "From the story by Ben G. Kohn"; about a pair of divers, and one saves the other one's life but loses his arm doing so; later, he joins a gang of crooks, and his best friend is now a policeman, who must catch the gang, which of course includes his best friend who saved his life) starring Edmund Lowe, Jack Holt, Bela Lugosi, Florence Rice, and Forrester Harvey. Note that Bela Lugosi's "star" had fallen so much by 1935 (just 4 years after his great success in Dracula) that, even though he was third billed, he was not even pictured on the only poster we have auctioned from this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1935 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a few lobby cards from this movie until we received this poster! Note that this poster was never folded. It COULD conceivably be rolled and sent in a tube, but it would certainly damage the poster to do so, so we will only send it to the winning bidder in a large flat package that measures approximately 16" x 38". Please bear this added expense in mind before bidding on this poster. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. It has darkening and staining down the left 2", with tears and creases in many parts of that area. There is tiny paper loss in two places in the bottom blank border. The poster is fragile. Obviously, this poster has the noticeable defects listed above, but it is also true that the image is not very affected by those defects (except for the left side of Lowe's face, and not his features), and after proper restoration and paperbacking, the poster will look fantastic, with very little paint restoration required within the image.
