An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2"; 94 pages) (Learn More)

Announcement 1926-1927 Producers Distributor Corporation, the 1926 PDC (Producers Distributor Corporation) campaign book, featuring upcoming PDC movies and stars from movies that were planned for production by PDC in the coming year. PDC was formed by the combination of top producers who had left other studios, including Cecil B. DeMille, Christie Studios, and Metropolitan Studios. The campaign book includes mostly two-color artwork images of ads for the major upcoming PDC films, plus images of their top stars and directors, plus six pages on all of the great writing talent working in their movies. Some of the ads and stars pictured on these pages include The Nervous Wreck, Gigolo (Rod La Rocque), Sunny-side Up ("Vera Reynolds, Cecil B. DeMille's new screen find"), The Yankee Clipper (William Boyd), The Speeding Venus (Priscilla Dean), The Sea Wolf, The Country Doctor, Young April, Silk, Rubber Tires, Man Bait (Marie Prevost), Vanity (Leatrice Joy), His Dog (Rod La Rocque, "from the famous novel by Albert Payson Terhune"), Getting Gertie's Garter (Marie Prevost), Turkish Delight ("from the story by Irvin S. Cobb"), The Deluge (Cecil B. DeMille), and much more! Also note that, as was often the case with these campaign books, some of the movies advertised were either never made, had their titles changed before they were released, or were made with different casts than those announced in the campaign book (I do not have time to research the titles in this campaign book to see which had changed titles or were never made, but if anyone has more information about any of these, please e-mail us and we will post it here)!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that this campaign book comes with a special "release schedule" supplement which is printed on a large 16" x 22" sheet that is folded twice, and which gives a list of all the movies intended for release during 1926 and 1927 with the month of release, and the producer, director, and principle cast. The sheet is pictured on our auction. I have seen many campaign books, and this is the very first time I have seen one of these supplements remain with the campaign book (I imagine most of them were discarded after they were used)!

Condition: very good. This is a hardcover book and there are scuffs and tiny chips of surface paper loss along the edges of the front and back covers and a few scattered spots in the solid colors of the front and back covers. The interior pages are in quite nice condition, with virtually no defects, and the supplement is in excellent condition! WE HAVE LOOKED THROUGH THIS BOOK VERY CAREFULLY, AND WE FEEL CERTAIN IT IS 100% COMPLETE, WITH NO MISSING PAGES OR CUT OUT PORTIONS!
