eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1x004 ROSE-MARIE 11x14 negative 1928 TC image of Joan Crawford, James Murray & House Peters! Date Sold 11/18/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Photographic Negative (measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm]) (Learn More) Rose-Marie, the 1928 Lucien Hubbard silent Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie romantic love triangle melodrama ("Based on the famous stage production."; about a beautiful girl at a Canadian trading post, who loves an outlaw wanted for murder, and there is a Canadian Mountie after the outlaw who loves her too!) starring Joan Crawford (in the title role as Rose-Marie), James Murray, House Peters, Creighton Hale, and Lou Costello (in a bit part). Note that filming on this movie started in 1926 with a different director and with Renee Adoree as the star, but the movie was abandoned. In 1928, MGM dusted off the old footage and completed it with Joan Crawford in the starring role. Of course, this movie is overshadowed by the classic 1936 sound version starring Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy! Also, this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we can't say for 100% certain that this negative is from the 1920s, but it definitely seems to be. Also note that this is a "studio-issued" negative. What is it? It was produced by the studio but is not the camera original. It is very high quality and was created in quantity by the studios and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). We have put a scan of the negative that shows the "positive image". REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU RECEIVE WILL BE A PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE, NOT A POSITIVE IMAGE LIKE YOU ARE SEEING. However, we will provide the winning bidder of this auction that positive image scan that is both high quality and not watermarked (on request to the winning bidder, and only the winning bidder). The negative is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in its plastic sleeve. This is a very special auction of 710 extremely rare negatives and transparencies of various sizes, plus lots of sets of 35mm slides. EVERY single one in this auction is either "studio issued" (meaning it was created by the studio and sent to theaters and movie outlets), OR it is a "camera original" (meaning it was the actual negative that was in the camera when the photographer took the picture). Every auction clearly identifies which they are, and there are no items being auctioned that are not either "studio issue" or "camera originals". We have divided them by type and size. Also note that this auction is for one or more negatives, and every one of the 185 auctions of negatives we are currently running have been scanned expertly. This auction contains the scan(s) of the negatives in this auction, and they have been scanned so that you see a "positive" image (and we have added an "eMoviePoster.com" watermark over it), but the auction is for the actual negative. The winner of this auction and ONLY the winner of this auction will, upon request, be sent the UNWATERMARKED scan(s) of the negative(s) in this auction, which will both save them the time and expense of scanning them themselves, and also allow them to make positive prints of the items they purchased, if they desire. Condition: fair to good. The negative was created by cutting out the image of the three stars from one negative and then taping it to the negative that has the title and credits. There is small tape on the front of parts of the image area. There are also pieces of paper tape in parts of the borders and loss in the bottom right corner. There is cloudiness in the negative around the edges. There is paint on the back of the credits side of the negative. Learn More about condition grades
