Date Sold 8/7/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14" x 19" [36 x 48 cm]) (Learn More) Ernst Lubitsch's Comedy To Be or Not to Be, the 1942 Ernst Lubitsch World War II (WWII) military romantic love triangle anti-Nazi screwball comedy ("We announce the presentation of Carole Lombard's last picture. An exciting romantic comedy keyed to an ever-mounting tempo of suspense. Jack Benny at his best in a surprisingly different comic role. Here is a Lubitsch picture-brilliant in its acting-spectacular in its scope."; "original story by Ernst Lubitsch and Melchior Lengyel"; produced by Alexander Korda) starring Carole Lombard (in her final movie role; she tragically died in a plane crash after filming), Jack Benny, Robert Stack, Felix Bressart, Lionel Atwill, Stanley Ridges, Charles Halton, and Sig Ruman. As noted above, Lombard tragically passed away after the movie finished filming, but before it was released. United Artists decided to capitalize on this by promoting it as "Carole Lombard's last picture"! Also note that this movie was remade by Mel Brooks in 1983! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 19" [36 x 48 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster originally had a blank top that was trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). There are some creases throughout the poster from it being oddly folded at one time and there are a few 1" and smaller tears along the foldlines and edges that have been repaired with tape from the back. There is surface paper loss at lower right from a tax stamp that has been removed. Learn More about condition grades
