Important Added Info:

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a large foreign stamp in the bottom left, and the top 2" was folded back at one time. The entire poster had darkened and had fairly minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. After it was backed, the poster was framed and it was taped to a backing board and taped to a mat around the edges of the front, and when it was removed from those areas. It is now tacky on the back of those areas on the back of the linen and around the edges of the front of the linen. This needs to be addressed, either by using a solvent to remove the glue and tape residue, or by re-backing the poster, so bear this in mind before bidding.
