(Learn More) Cimarron, the 1931 Wesley Ruggles (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) epic winning-of-the-West melodrama ("Edna Ferber's Colossal Cimarron"; "World's Mightiest Show!"; "Terrific as all Creation"; "Mightiest drama of the ages"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; from a story by Edna Ferber) starring Richard Dix (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Irene Dunne (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Estelle Taylor, Roscoe Ates, Nance O'Neil, Edna May Oliver, with "5000 in cast" (some advertising says "and a cast of 40,000"!). Note that this movie was remade in 1960 starring Glenn Ford and Maria Schell! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this first release pressbook! Also note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. Note that we solely give an overall grade to these rare pressbooks, and tell you whether it is complete and uncut. However, you can view our multiple images of the covers and the interior pages that should give you a good sense of the pressbook's condition. Learn More about condition grades
